"St. Anger" by Metallica: This is, IMO, Metallica's worst album. If Lars didn't have such an ego during that time, it could have been decent. He didn't let Kirk do any solos in the album, because at the time it wasn't a trendy thing. Which is a bunch of BS. In the 80s being trendy was the last thing they cared about. Also, the drum track was over produced, and loudest thing on the record. That was one thing about "Death Magnetic" that annoyed me, but it was still good. With all of the shit that went on during that time, Napster, James' inner problems, that could have helped give the album more feeling, but it obviously didn't. Which was a huge shame. At least "Load", and "Reload" had some decent songs. The lyrics were cheesy, and the riffs were bland, in my honest opinion.
"Demonic" by Testament: This was Testament's experiment with "Death Metal", but instead of bringing the classic Testament feel to the style, they just followed all of the popular trends in "Death Metal" in the mid/late-90s. It made the album very stale, and they brought nothing new to the genre, like they could have. This is, IMO, the only bad Testament album.
What are some albums you thought could have been good, but were the opposite?
