The actual feather extensions are the same feathers that are used in fly fishing. The unfortunate thing about them is the bird that these feathers are from is killed for them. There is no fashion fad that is worth an animal losing its life. There are cruelty free feathers available as well but the actual extensions that you can curl and straighten that stay in for a month or two are from a birdhat is bred just for its feathers.  It makes me sad. |

The feathers I have seen aren't very long, they are pretty short in the place I work at. Although, I have been braiding a piece of hair and putting the feather almost at the end of the hair, which is pretty cute.
